WE DO NOT CONSENT TO THE SALE OF OUR GENETIC DATA

Abuse of power should come as no surprise. Information is power, and like all power there are those who want to keep it for themselves [1]. The entirety of our civilization has data that is being monopolized and locked up by a handful of private corporations.
The 23andWE DLP exists to take back user sovereignty over their genetic data. Companies like 23andMe have provided a useful service to users but the business reality pits their interests against those users they aim to serve. Users are stuck in a paradigm where their data is valuable but middlemen and private interests are positioned to profit from that data. But there are those fighting to change this.
Using the Vana protocol, the 23andWE DLP is a Data DAO that pools genomic data generated from sites like 23andMe and attests to the validity of that data through a network of third party validators. In exchange for contributing data, users receive tokens that afford governance rights over the use of that data. (See note at the bottom about these tokens).
DLP stands for Data Liquidity Pool and, as the name suggests, it accumulates a body of data that meets quality standards and allows general use by third parties interested in building on that data as decided by the DAO. This structure is a radical shift in power towards the end user. Data is becoming more and more valuable with the rise of AI. We don't want to see a future where big tech companies, data brokers, and other middlemen get to feed at the banquet of knowledge while the rest of the world is locked out.
NOW IS THE TIME to take back control. Will you join us?

NOTE the tokens offered by the 23andWE DLP provide governance rights over the data. They do not represent equity share in the DLP nor do they provide rights to cashflow or dividends. There is no expectation of profit for these tokens. These tokens do not confer any rights other than those coded in to the smart contracts. See Terms for more information. Information about tokenomics, distribution schedule, and governance will be made available shortly in our documentation.
